This encapsulates the remarkable career trajectory of Shri Sarthak Behuria, a distinguished leader whose legacy continues to inspire. Throughout his illustrious journey, Shri Behuria donned many hats, but to me, he will always be remembered as my Director (Operations) at the erstwhile Oil Coordination Committee (OCC), Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India. During my tenure at OCC, I had the privilege of serving as Joint Director (Operations), proudly considering myself a dedicated member of his team.

On July 11, 2025, Shri Behuria was honoured with the prestigious ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ at the Global Refining & Petrochemicals Congress (GRPC'2025), held at Hotel Le Meridien, Delhi. The accolade was presented amidst resounding applause, a fitting tribute to his decades of exemplary service and leadership.

After the ceremony, I had the pleasure of meeting him, an encounter that was both nostalgic and exhilarating, as it marked our meeting in over two decades. We exchanged warm pleasantries, and with his characteristic warmth, he inquired,

- “So Kumar, what are you doing these days?”

As I responded briefly, he placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder and said, “Kumar, I know you have that passion.”

Those words, spoken with genuine affection and insight, rekindled fond memories of a time when mentorship, camaraderie, and shared purpose defined our professional lives.
